BIO

I’m an interdisciplinary researcher and practitioner working at the intersection of participatory design and more-than-human governance. I’m currently pursuing a PhD at Hasselt University in Belgium, where my research investigates new approaches to ecological democracy through the lens of critical design studies and environmental humanities.

With a background in visual and eco-social design, I’ve mostly worked on sociocultural projects: applying design research to questions of identity and language politics in border regions, co-creating participatory strategies for cultural initiatives, and facilitating public engagement in the reimagination of commons. In parallel, I maintain a strong ongoing interest in the roles of diasporas in academia and beyond.

MECCHEGNO

2018

Group project for the Final Synthesis Laboratory at Politecnico di Milano.
Team: Federico Del Vecchio, Martina Galofaro, Kseniia Obukhova, Lucia Zago.
Professors: Valeria Luisa Bucchetti, Umberto Tolino, Pamela Visconti.
a.y. 2017-2018
The "Mecchegno" project is an innovative modular furniture system crafted by the skilled artisans at "Xiloidea" carpentry, located in the province of Varese.

Our team took the existing product lines and expanded upon them, focusing on designing the visual elements for these imaginative pieces of furniture. Our aim was to encourage children's creative engagement.

The "Mecchegno" project was divided into three distinct product lines: Discover,Create, and Furnish, each tailored to a specific age group. We executed a comprehensive project, starting from the dynamic logo creation and defining a harmonious colour palette. This extended to packaging design, the development of a user-friendly website, and the formulation of a strategic approach for social media communication.

It was important that all three product lines remained faithful to the unique identity of "Mecchegno." Simultaneously, we ensured they conveyed a clear and easily recognisable message aligned with the overarching Family brand.
